The elementary school has made some significant improvements over past few years. There is a heavy emphasis on language arts that includes a solid phonics program, development of reading comprehension skills, speech competitions, and learning how to write compositions. The principal seems to be a good

listener and is not afraid to think outside the box. The middle school is fine, but I have not seen as much improvement there as I have in the elementary school. There are a few electives, but I would like to see more. The high school has very good teachers, and students who work hard will be well-prepared for college. The high school needs more electives, though. Regarding discipline, the dean of students is one of the most down to earth and reasonable guys I have ever met. I think the kids love him! Read less

Regarding another comment made by a parent, it is true that students struggle in college in math and writing. Also, in study skills. I am a former graduate of Westwood and had a really hard time when I first started college. I had to learn for myself how to study and how to study the right way. The school

grades and the homework online! Teachers e-mail you! Teachers work with the parents! These things are not found very much in public school. Great Christian teachings except the part about that they are not supposed to listen to rock music. I thnk that's a little extreme b/c rock music is everywhere and there is no way to avoid that and then the students feel guilty when they are somewhere where it's being played. But the academics, discipline, etc. is worth it. Read less

Wonderful academics. The math program is excellent and so is history as well as science. I m very impress with how much my 5th grader knows. He is now learning what I learned in high school in public school. My concern is with the bible teachings. They seem too radical at times. Perhaps a new bible

Great school, The teachers love to teach. Gives challenging work and discipline. Mixes Christian faith in with almost everything. The principals are not too leanient but are not too firm either. The students are treated as their age nothing more and nothing less. There is alot but not enough parent involvement

Great school but very conservative. The students were not allowed to dance or listen to any rock music. However, the education was worth it. My son learned how to study (a skill not taught in public schools) and how to organize himself.
